Keeping your flat in tip-top condition this month

Many of you will remember your flat check-in with our staff making sure everything is in great working order. But whilst we work hard to ensure electric sockets, appliances and the like are perfect when you move in, nothing can prevent wear and tear. Being in the property day to day, you're literally our eyes and ears, and here are a few things to look out for to keep your property safe.

Your walls

Extreme temperatures create condensation and this in turn can lead to mould building up, if left untreated. See our guide to managing condensation here.

Your taps

Have you ever sat near a constantly dripping tap? Not only is the noise somewhat annoying, a dripping tap can soon turn into a running tap which can waste (hot!) water and maybe an indication of bigger problems. Fixing it in the initial stages of the problem occurring often helps prevent larger, time-consuming repairs later on. For you as a tenant that means minimum disruption, so everyone wins.

The outdoors

Speaking of water damage, winter temperatures may well have caused your outside water pipes to freeze partially with fittings becoming loose or deteriorating. The Cullen Property team inspects all of our lets regularly, but don’t hesitate to let us know when you spot something untoward.

Plug sockets

… should be firmly seated against the wall. With regular use, moving chargers and plugs in and out on a daily basis, they may become loose. If that’s the case in your Cullen property, do let us know and one of our maintenance team will be happy to come around and fix it at a time to suit you.

Appliances and light bulbs

Is your living room appearing dimmer than usual? As winter turns to spring your property should appear brighter than it did just a few weeks ago. If you notice flickering lights, malfunctioning dimmers or temperamental appliances it may be time to replace them or get them checked out before bigger problems occur.

We understand that not all of our tenants are  busy but our maintenance team is more than happy to advise and help you out. Simply hit the 'report a maintenance issue' on the home page of our website www.cullenproperty.com
