John Rutherford - Meet Our New Property Manager

Meet John Rutherford:

With 28 years' of prior experience in the property lettings/investment industry and his local knowledge of Edinburgh, John has been a great addition to the team since he joined in July earlier this year. Find out more about John below.

Can you describe a ‘normal’ day at work?

Dealing with anything that comes in which could mean you are answering queries from literally anyone who has an interest in the property. Reactive and proactive maintenance.

What do you like most about your job?

Problem solving, you have to think quickly and have knowledge on a variety of different aspects of property related issues to give an informed answer.

What is the greatest thing you have learned in your career so far?

To listen to everyone and try and see any issues that arise from the perspective of the person immediately affected.

Where can we find you outside of work?

At the football, well I say football I follow Hibs….With my 3 year old daughter in a play-park or farm as she has a love of animals.

What is your favourite thing to do in Edinburgh?

Apart from the football, which is sometimes not a favourite place to visit, I love the Shore in Leith and the eclectic mix of bars, restaurants and people there.

Do you have any interesting hobbies?

I do like collecting trainers/sneakers and have built up quite a collection much to the annoyance of my wife.

Are you originally from Edinburgh? If not, where are you from and how long have you been living here?

Yes, originally from Edinburgh although I now reside in Dunbar.

Where do you see yourself in five years' time?

Hopefully still at Cullen Property and within the property management team having helped make Cullen Property a professional company that caters for both landlords and tenants.

What are your future career goals?

To continue to adapt and learn both personally and professionally. To be the best father I could possibly be.

What’s your recommendation for the first place a new visitor should visit when arriving in Edinburgh and why?

Easter Road, just kidding….depending on the time of year I would say Christmas in George Street would be a nice time and place to visit.  In fact, there is no better place than Edinburgh when it is covered in snow.
