The month of August is known as festival season here in Edinburgh, and it’s a great time to live in the city.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe: The largest arts festival in the world takes place every August. There’s thousands of shows, from comedy and theatre to performing arts and music, in over 250 venues. There are shows to suit all budgets, but for those looking to make it a little cheaper, check out Virgin Money’s Half Price Hut which offers discounted tickets every day. Edinburgh International Festival: Every August, the Edinburgh International Festival comes to town offering music, theatre, opera, and dance from around the world in Edinburgh’s best venues including its six major theatres and concert halls. For a list of events click here.

Magners Summer Nights: Enjoy music from Flaming Lips, The Waterboys, and James at Princes Street Gardens from Wednesday 26th– Friday 28th August. For more information click here.

Edinburgh International Book Festival: Taking place in the last three weeks of August, this festival welcomes novelists, poets, scientists and musicians in over 700 events. Writers from all over the world gather at Charlotte Square Gardens for this festival which has been going strong since 1983. For a list of events click here.
